I think one of the most beautiful things about Christmas is that it embodies, through actions, activities, cards and yes, even gifts, so many of the hopes, dreams and best parts about ourselves and our communities. Philanthropy – literally defined as “the love of man” – when done best, is kind of like this but played out all year round.

For me, you – this community – have given many Christmas Moments for thousands this year, as thousands more are no longer walking for hours to the swamp for water. They’re sitting down with family and having their version of Christmas, free from dirty, disease-filled water.

This is a Christmas miracle that I can get behind.
