Turning Water into Wealth

Your Generosity is Supercharging Community Income

It wasn’t just water that began flowing when the taps turned on for the village of Kicuzi.

Because of you, opportunities to grow relationships, skills, and income are now streaming in, too!

A pilot project partnering with Solid Rock began this year, teaching community groups new skills to make money for their families. By forming cooperatives, they can access small amounts of capital, and with this money, start their own businesses, like small-scale farming and soap-making.

“ACTS has not stopped with giving us water only! We are here today making jelly, liquid soap, and bar soap as one way of helping us overcome poverty,” said Bony, a participant.

No longer trapped in loans, Bony and his neighbours now see a path to a richer life. Your kind-hearted help is making an incredible impact on those living in extreme poverty after just three months:

  • People earning $1.40/day are now earning $2.60/day!
  • 36% increase in households earning $54-$135 per month.
  • 11% of households started earning over $270 per month.
  • 84% of the participants are living above the poverty line.

Thanks to your generosity, this pilot project was made possible, and communities like Kicuzi can now write a new story of hope for themselves – transforming water into wealth.

Acquiring the skills to create soap and jelly instills a sense of pride in community members, as it enhances their ability to boost household income independently
Learning how to make soap and jelly gives community members pride in improving their own household income.
