Nancy’s belief in this bold, young student eventually led to opportunities to read on the ACTS radio station, be an interpreter, and eventually to full-time employment with the ACTS Education Program.
Athens says she “found her true calling,” as she connected with students and parents in water project areas, offering them unwavering support.
"Understanding their family background enabled me to help each student according to her or his challenge. Working with the ACTS Education Program has helped me to really be a parent even before being a mother."
Having now grown into a Communications & Media role, Athens continues to use her talent to capture stories of those in need of water, with dignity and thoughtfulness.

A pilot project partnering with Solid Rock began this year, teaching community groups new skills to make money for their families. By forming cooperatives, they can access small amounts of capital, and with this money, start their own businesses, like small-scale farming and soap-making.
"ACTS has not stopped with giving us water only! We are here today making jelly, liquid soap, and bar soap as one way of helping us overcome poverty," said Bony, a participant.

The Irimya Project – a huge team effort – is well underway!
The ground’s been broken, water source mined, and flowing to the sediment tank. Soon, the trenches will be dug through the thick forest to reach the community.

Tracey DeGraaf, Director of International Programs, resigned after six truly transformative years with us. She was an invaluable leader, guide, and support as our programming evolved to sustainably transform thousands of lives.
With this, we excitedly welcome Ambrose Bigaba as our new Program Director! Ambrose has been our Ugandan M&E Manager since 2021, with a strong mix of technical knowledge, experience, and leadership skills. (More on our growing Global Senior Leadership Team soon.)

This sustainable water system continues to reach a range of neighbours and visitors to the area. Your generosity has created a fresh start for the patients at the health clinic, brought life to the churches, and increased family income.
The most unstoppable progress though, is in the lives of the youngest members of Masha. Flowing from your gift of clean water and safe, private toilets for 10 primary schools is a record 40% increase in attendance for female students and 48% decrease in absenteeism!
You can literally hear the laughter and chatter rise as students like these release the worry of finding water and safe places to practice healthy hygiene.
Clean water is something many of us take for granted, but in Masha, water is life. Yours is a gift these students will carry throughout their entire education, and families will treasure for generations.
