Harriet is One in Three

Harriet, 47, her three children, and her grandchildren lived in water poverty. The closest swamp was miles away and filled with germs and animals. This deprived her children of proper education, her family of health, and her community from thriving.

Her story is true for one in three people in Uganda who lack safe, clean drinking water and hygiene facilities.

But then people like you stepped in to join her and change everything.

“I thank you for this excellent water project you are building for us…when this water reaches our village, our children will grow and increase their knowledge. We shine now! This is because of you! Thank you, thank you many times!” – Harriet.

Over the last 35 years, you’ve helped end water poverty for 417,658 people like Harriet.

Ensuring Your Gift has Maximum Impact

Everything starts with water. We begin with Gravity Flow Systems, the most sustainable, drought-resistant, economical way to provide clean water to villages and communities in Uganda. We’ve built more of these than any other NGO in Africa.

To ensure clean water reaches its full potential, we conduct a 12-month comprehensive water, sanitation, and hygiene training program (WASH) in homes and schools (where we also build latrines). By completion, communities achieve the country’s highest hygiene and sanitation levels.

Our exit strategy helps prepare communities to thrive by including entrepreneurship training, system governance, partnerships with NGOs, local health authorities, and digital monitoring solutions.

100% of systems we oversee are operational and are on a retrofit schedule. The industry has a 70% fail rate.

Our hygiene programs outperform industry averages by 200%, and our entrepreneurship programs enable 97% of participants to be sustainably lifted out of poverty when partnered with water projects.

Just months after our water and sanitation programs come to schools, we’ve seen an 85% decrease in absenteeism from illness and a 15% increase in female enrolment, giving hope for a whole generation.

Flowing Forward Campaign

Today, we’re raising $2.4 million to serve 1.4 million people by 2026 with innovative infrastructure support, hygiene training, and clean, safe water for life.
