Breaks Ground on 2 New Projects at Once!!

Last January, a group of donors made a commitment to invest in our infrastructure in Uganda – a truck, a few motorcycles, training, and more staff. This allowed us to go from 1 team to 2, which enabled us to reach 20,000 in the first ½ of 2022.

Now we’ve launched 2 more projects and have grown from 2 teams to 3. One team is continuing to work at Sweet Water to help them with their behaviour transformation, and the other two teams are working on retrofits and extensions in two areas that will collectively reach another 21,400 more people!

One project is happening in Isingiro, a district with the 8th largest refugee settlement camp in the world, bringing in about 2,000 new refugees per month. The district is bursting under the weight of trying to provide basic infrastructure. Partnering with them is a critical way we can add leverage to their dollars and yours: together. This project launched on October 26, 2022. It will serve a population of 13,000+ composed of 9 villages, 3 primary schools, and 1 health clinic. When complete, 71 taps and 7 latrines will have been built!

The other project is in the Ibanda district and allows us to get almost complete water coverage in a geographic area the size of Abbotsford, Chilliwack, and Surrey… combined. Launched on October 19th, it will supply 8 villages, 2 schools, and 1 health clinic with clean water flowing from 69 taps!!

Once these regions have water, we know the transformation will be profound. Everything flows from water.

Today is a day to celebrate your investments, the team in Uganda’s hard work, and the partnerships that have flourished out of intense seasons. Breaking ground on two strategic projects like this while finishing up a third is huge for us, and we couldn’t have done it without you

Here’s to the journey.
