Project Update

In May, thanks to the generosity of many, our team broke ground on a new project to get clean water to the most remote community we’ve worked with before: Irimya.

After traversing through Kicuzi (the area where our last new water system was built), you climb a hill, travel down a boulder path then navigate through a vine-filled forest amongst wildlife. Eventually, you emerge from the trees to see a stunning view of villages scattered throughout the valley, with the majestic Lake George in the distance.

Irimya is a strategic priority for us. It means getting almost complete water coverage for the district of Ibanda. Building off of Kicuzi, it covers a region the size of Vancouver, Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Surrey, Delta, and Richmond combined. An incredible relationship with the local Ugandan government has seen them contribute the largest amount ever to a local water project!

This project involves the construction of a new water system serving 14 villages, 5 schools, and 1 health clinic. When complete, it will reach over 14,000 more people with clean, safe, accessible water and hygiene training, thanks to your caring support!

It’s early days, but thanks to this kind community, the ground has been broken, and the work has begun! The clean water sources have been found and protected.

Stay tuned in the months to come for more on how your generosity is making life-changing impact in Irimya.
